British Fittings

British thread fittings use BSPP threads which is British Standard Pipe Parallel or BSPT threads to form hydraulic connections. BSPP and BSPT threads are very similar to American NPT standard pipe thread however, they are different enough that they aren’t compatible.

BSPP Thread Fittings

BSPP thread fittings have parallel threads. The connection methodology for BSPP is a bonded seal and/or a bottom out connection from the male to the female fitting.

BSPT Thread Fittings

BSPT thread fittings have tapered threads. The connection method for BSPT threads is to lock through the male turning into the female thread. Generally three turn locking will create a solid pressure connection with this thread type.
